Privacy and data

What we collect, and what we do not

This site has no accounts, no sign-up and no form asking for your name, email or date of birth. The explanation below sets out what a static site like this does and does not collect, how analytics and cookies fit in, and how to ask for anything held about you to be removed.

No accounts and no personal details requested

Reading this site does not require an account. There is no login, no newsletter sign-up that asks for your details and no contact form collecting personal information. Pages are served as files, and you can read them without telling us who you are. If you follow a link to our partner, any information you give there is handled by the partner under its own privacy terms, not by this site.

Because there are no accounts, there is no profile of you held here, no deposit history and no record of what you play. Any information you send by email is received as ordinary correspondence. It is used to answer your message and for nothing else. We do not build marketing lists from it or pass it to anyone.

The data analytics can observe

Some analytics may run on this site to show which pages are read and how people arrive. That kind of tool typically records the page requested, the referring page, an approximate location and a browser or device type. It reports in aggregate, so the output is counts and trends rather than a list of individuals. It does not see your name, your email or your banking details because the site never asks for them.

Cookies are small files a site or an analytics tool may set in your browser. They can distinguish one browser from another across a visit, which is how repeat visits are counted. They do not contain your name. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the pages here will still load. Blocking them may mean your visit is not counted, which is acceptable.

Your privacy rights under Australian law

The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) is the framework for how personal information is handled in Australia. It sets out obligations around collecting only what is needed, using information for the purpose it was collected, keeping it secure and giving people access to information held about them. This site is built to collect as little as possible, so there is little to hold and little to correct.

If you believe something held here relates to you and you want it removed, write to the editorial desk by email and say what you want removed and why. Requests are reviewed and answered, and where information is held and can be deleted, it is deleted. If you are not satisfied with the response, you can raise the matter with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Questions

Do I have to give my details to read this site?

No. There is no sign-up and no form asking for personal information, so you can read every page without giving a name or email. If you choose to email the editorial desk, that message is the only information you are providing.

How do I ask for information about me to be removed?

Email the editorial desk and describe what you want removed and why. The request is reviewed, and where information is held and can be deleted, it is deleted. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner if you are not satisfied.
